“We wanted more land,” Lynn said. “And we wanted a house that complemented and elevated the property in the tradition of a European estate, much like a French chateau.”

Lynn and Michael McBride built their dream chateau in Simpsonville, SC on 40+ acres of rolling countryside that looks equally fit for an elegant outdoor ball or an English-style fox hunt. The house, of course, is the centerpiece, the crown jewel upon which the property and its natural attributes surround. The Heirloom Companies—a supremely talented group of wood and iron craftsmen—located just outside of Greenville, S.C. are a big reason the home is so impressive, inside and out.

“When we purchased the house,” Lynn says, “it was about half finished and The Heirloom Companies had already been engaged to design and produce the inside stairwells and railings. We absolutely loved the their work—the attention to detail, the elegant designs, the expert craftsmanship—so we retained them as well to do a number of custom creations that really make this place special.”

To say The Heirloom Companies were busy is an understatement. The McBrides enlisted their creative powers to concept and install a wide range of wood and metal pieces: elaborate exterior railings, detailed driveway gates, custom newel posts, mahogany doors, walk-through gates, window boxes, and various other works that complement not only the house itself, but the inviting outdoor pool area and motor court.
“The two most impressive pieces to me,” says Lynn, “are the curved iron radius bench by the pool and the incredibly artistic fire screen that incorporates beautiful agate crystals. It’s absolutely gorgeous. The creativity of The Heirloom Companies and their ability to come up with artistic solutions is amazing.”

The Heirloom Companies have built a reputation for exceeding customers’ expectations. By combining old world craftsmanship with the latest technology, they are able to fashion intricate pieces that are as impressive as they are original. “The Moseley family and everyone at Heirloom have been a pleasure to work with,” says Lynn. “Whether it’s something very specific we are looking for, or whether they bring us some ideas or sketches based on a concept, they always deliver.”
